Using advanced membrane technology, Aqua Clear offers High Recovery Reverse Osmosis (HRRO). With HRRO, Aqua Clear is able to achieve recovery rates greater than 85%; thereby, reducing brine waste discharge. HRRO is a semi-batch process where permeate is constantly produced and the concentrate is continuously recirculated until the recovery setpoint is achieved at which point the brine is purged from the system using a fresh feed sweep. The recirculation pump maintains high flow across the RO membrane minimizing the buildup of scalants on the surface of the membrane.
Aqua Clear tailors the design of the HRRO system specific to the water quality requirements of each client. Applications for HRRO include large industrial consumers of water such as Food & Beverage Manufacturing and Power Plants. Inland locations where the options for brine discharge from brackish desalination are limited or nonexistent also benefit from HRRO. HRRO is also effective in wastewater reuse applications.
