Aqua Clear Water Treatment Specialists recently designed, built, and shipped this skid to a legendary craft brewery located in San Francisco.
Aqua Clear’s client will install a wastewater treatment and reuse system for this iconic brewery. This system as permitted by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will capture wastewater from the brewing processes and treat it for reuse applications such as tank and bottle rinses, packaging, clean-in-place, cooling water and floor washdown.
The treatment train consists of a membrane bioreactor (MBR) followed by reverse osmosis (RO) and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection. Aqua Clear supplied our client with a custom-built RO/UV skid designed to achieve >5-log virus reduction credits.
The UV system is fully validated to EPA UVDGM protocol for 
4-log Adenovirus reduction using a dosage of 186 mJ/cm2. Aqua Clear’s skid-mounted system also includes a VFD to efficiently drive the pump motor, hypochlorite feed system along with inline chlorine monitoring, and a calcite media filter for pH neutralization. The skid has an integrated CIP system for ease of cleaning the RO membranes. The complete system is controlled via an Allen Bradley PLC (and touchscreen HMI) which provides automation and continuous monitoring of inline instrumentation.
